To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Vision
We build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. The Akron Area YMCA, serving Summit, Medina and Portage Counties, is a faith based, social service health and recreation agency. A private, not-for-profit charity, supported in large part by contributions, the YMCA provides opportunities for membership programs, leadership and facilities that develop the whole person, spirit, mind and body.

Core Values
Our core values are caring, honesty, respect and responsibility—you’ll see them demonstrated by our staff and implemented in all of our programs. While they come from the Christian heritage on which the YMCA was founded, we believe they are still very important today in the development of the whole person — spirit, mind and body. The emphasis we place on these values distinguishes the YMCA from other public and private clubs and programs.
