Membership Benefits
A commitment to people of all income levels is an important practice of the YMCA. In recent years, we have seen disturbing trends in the quality of life in communities across the country. Social and economic issues have emerged as real-life situations that affect many people and, saddest of all, many children.
The Akron Area YMCA is committed to providing high-quality, affordable programs for the community in a Christian environment. Our programs, services and facilities are available to everyone, regardless of a family’s or individual’s ability to pay the standard fees.
Each year, financial assistance funds are raised through the YMCA Partners With Youth campaign. These resources are available to families and individuals through financial assistance, which provides program or membership opportunities based on a sliding scale fee structure.
How to apply: Applying for YMCA financial assistance is simple and completely confidential. Simply complete a Financial Assistance Application at the YMCA branch or program center where you will be participating. Your application will be reviewed by the YMCA staff responsible for financial assistance. Those staff are the only people who will review your application.
To qualify for financial assistance, you only need to work or live in the service area of your local YMCA branch or program center and demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Awards are based on an applicant’s ability to pay the standard fees and are limited by the YMCA funds available at the time of application.
